  1. In a complete and brazen deviation from the content of this post, I’d like to suggest a rather different book: Jane Jacobs’ “Systems of Survival”. (

    I expect that it’s already in your library, but if not, then rush out and steal it from your local public library. It specifies the two conflicting ethical systems that drive our society.
